Birthday Surprise Ruined

We had the best ever birthday surprise planned for my mother-in-law. We drove down to Utah to catch a flight to Chicago. We walked into the airport and found out our flight was cancelled. Worst feeling ever! Okay I am sure you can come up with something to top it, but after packing, waking up early, driving 3.5 hrs with toddler, and to top it off, Adam didn't join us for the adventure. The blessing of the day was that Adam's grandparents had driven us to the airport and walked us in, so I wasn't stranded.

This was proof for his grandma that we tried to surprise her for her birthday. We were so sad that it didn't work out. We found out our flight was cancelled due to weather on the East Coast and we couldn't catch another flight for another 5 days. After hearing that the temperature in Chicago was -14 and continued bad weather, we decided to postpone our trip. We decided to take advantage of our drive down to Utah and visit all of our family. We had a blast!

Greyson loves the snow! He used to not like wearing his gloves, but now he knows that they make a difference and he asks for them before going out. Yay! We tried making our first snowman together. He took my attempt for a head and called it "Ball."

Great-grandpa was excited to take us for a ride on his ATV before he shoveled his driveway. So Greyson sat in between great-grandpa and I held onto him and the ATV for dear life. We went to the church parking lot and did wheelies. While we were going in a fast circle, Greyson was asking for more. It was funny, but I was feeling nauseous and scared at the same time. He loved it!

Playing in more snow.

Great-grandma spoiled us! During nap times and bed time, great-grandpa babysat and she and I went shopping, went to late night movies, and chatted. I am blessed to have such wonderful in-laws who treat me like one of their own. Greyson really enjoyed getting to know them better too.

We visited with our cousins and went on a few outings with them to Cabellas and Ikea. I also visited my brother and an old roommate while we were in town. It was so nice to have the time to do so many things!

We went to dinner with both sets of great-grandparents on Adam's side of the family. They all enjoyed seeing Greyson, but missed seeing Adam. Luckily Adam was able to come down the next weekend and visit with everyone before we drove back home. What a fun time! We were sad to have our trip to Chicago cancelled, but we definitely enjoyed our time with family in Utah.
